Film North Film North Announces Line-Up for Fourth Season

Huntsville, Ontario – Thursday, August 23rd, 2013 – Film North, Huntsville International Film Festival, has announced today that their much-anticipated program has been finalized. Thirty-five films, including shorts, documentaries, and features of all genres have been carefully selected from a submission list of over 200 films. These films will be screened over three days - beginning the evening of Thursday, September 19th through Saturday, September 21st, 2013 - at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville, Ontario.

Lucy Wing, CEO and Founder of Film North believes, "The Film North synergy of our festival organizers, film industry, and audience returns this year with a program that satisfies beyond expectations."

Film North's festival events include Opening Night receptions on Thursday and Friday evenings, in Partners Hall at the Algonquin Theatre. There will be a Closing Night reception and Gala Awards Ceremony on Saturday, followed by an after party at a local restaurant (TBD).

Film North 2013 tickets will be on sale through the Algonquin Theatre box office in Huntsville or online at www.algonquintheatre.ca in September.

Changes and Additions to Film North's Awards in Competition
We are pleased to announce several exciting changes to the Huntsville International Film Festival's awards program this year. 2013 marks the inaugural year for three new festival awards:
"Best Animated Film"
"Best Canadian Film"
"Emerging Canadian Filmmaker"
Film North is proud to be a Canadian festival, and we are honoured to support and promote Canada's talented emerging filmmakers and and their exceptional Canadian films.
Retrospective Series Theme for 2013

This year's retrospective series explores the artistic form of stand-up comedy in Cinema. Film North is proud to acknowledge the substantial history of comedic arts in Canadian culture, and the significant influence of Canadian comics on the world stage. “Formal Representations of Stand-up Comedy in Cinema" will provide a series of thought-provoking content for comedy-loving festival-goers. By showcasing the form of stand-up comedy in cinema, Film North recognizes the dynamic contributions of both individual comedians and featured filmmakers to the medium.
Bull's Eye Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Announced

It is our pleasure to present Michel Brault with this year's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Michel Brault is one of the most accomplished, influential and revered filmmakers in the history of Canadian cinema. He is a recipient of the Prix Jutra Lifetime Achievement Award (2005), the Governor General's Award (1996), and an Officer of L'Ordre National Du Quebec (2004). He is also the only Quebec filmmaker who has been active in both documentary and fiction filmmaking for more than 50 years, having contributed to over 200 films, and four of the 10 all-time best Canadian films as either director or cinematographer.

Save the Date – Bull's Eye Bash 2013
The Bull's Eye Bash is back and is sure to be better than ever for 2013! This year's event will take place on Saturday August 10th so make sure to save the date. Expect several new changes and a few surprises at the Bash this year. It will be an exciting event that you will NOT want to miss!
Film North at Cannes
Kathryn Griffiths will be attending the Cannes Marche du Film on behalf of Film North from May 20th-25th this year. If you will be on the Cote D'Azur during this time, be sure to drop Kathryn a line – she would love to meet you! Her contact info is: Kathryn@filmnorth.net.

It is our pleasure to introduce you to the newest additions to The Film North team:
We welcome Sheila McCarthy, Actor and 2012 Bull's Eye Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Deborah Robinson, President Bay Street HR, to our Advisory Board.

Emma Burtch, double major Cinema Studies U of T student, joins us for her internship as Programming Assistant. Founding Board members Kathryn Griffiths, and Cameron Wing have taken over the new Board titles of Chief Operating Officer and Director of Programming respectively.
