Huntsville film festival to be back for another year
Huntsville's first international film festival will not be its last.
Held Thursday, Sept. 23 to Saturday, Sept. 25, Film North was comprised of over 20 short and over 12 feature films from around the world, including Canada, the United States, Peru and Belgium.
Lucy Wing, president and founder of Film North, said the festival was a resounding success.
"For our first film festival in a new location that has never had a festival, we are absolutely overwhelmed with the positive reaction from both the audience and the industry," said Wing.
Wing said several directors, producers and actors attended the festival, along with at least 1,500 audience members, though exact totals are not yet known.
She said she has already asked Algonquin Theatre to book space for next year's festival.
"I asked the audience at awards night on Saturday if they wanted us to have Film North again next year and they stood up and gave us a standing ovation, so I think we'll have to try to bring it back," she said.
