Film North returns to Hunsville Stage

HUNTSVILLE – Forty-three films will be screened at Film North, Huntsville International Film Festival in a mere three days, starting Sept. 20.

Water plays protagonist in festival film

HUNTSVILLE – The filmmakers of Algonquin wanted viewers to feel like they were part of Algonquin Park’s iconic waterways.
Producer Joel Irwin said the film, being premiered at the Huntsville-based international film festival Film North this weekend, not only expresses the power, beauty and importance of the park's water. It also presents it from a unique perspective.

HUNTSVILLE – Director Craig Goodwill says he didn’t want to see a canoe or a loon anywhere near his short film about iconic painter Tom Thomson.
Goodwill said his eight-minute film Artist: Unknown, set to be screened during the Huntsville-based international film festival Film North, pushes aside the idea of Thomson as an unblemished Canadian hero and asks poignant questions about him as a man.

AWARDS CEREMONY RESULTS
Film North 3 has come to a close! After two and a half days of screening wonderfully made Canadian and International films, the
founding team is so proud to announce that the ballots have been counted and their deliberations are complete!
The award results are in! Winners are as follows:
Golden Antler Viewer's Choice Award Winner:
2 Knocks

Riaz Tyab Bull's Eye Lifetime Achievement Award:
Sheila McCarthy
Highly esteemed Canadian actress, most recently known for her work in Little Mosque on the Prairie & TIFF's Canadian First Feature Film Award Winner, Antiviral.
Best Feature Length Film Award Winner:
Waiting for Summer
Directed by Senthil Vinu. Starring Caleb Verzyden.
Best Short Length Award Winner:
Morning Zombies
Directed by Lewis Hodgson.
Best Environmental Film Award Winner:
Carbon for Water
Directed by Evan Abramson & Carmen Elsa Lopez.
Best Documentary Film Award Winner:
Sisters in Arms
Directed & written by Beth Freeman.
