Film North FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - AWARDS CEREMONY RESULTS
Film North
Film North, Huntsville International Film Festival has come to a close! After two and a half days of screening wonder fully made Canadian and International films, we are pleased to announce that the ballots have been counted and deliberations are complete. The award results are in!
Winners are as follows:
Bull's Eye Lifetime Achievement Award:
Michel Brault
Michel Brault is one of the most accomplished, influential and revered filmmakers in the history of Canadian cinema. He is a recipient of the Prix Jutra Lifetime Achievement Award (2005), the Governor General's Award (1996), and an Officer of L'Ordre National Du Quebec (2004). In 1974, Brault directed Les Ordres, about the 1970 October crisis and won the 1975 Cannes Film Festival award for Best Director and the 1975 Canadian Film Award for best direction. He is also the only Quebec filmmaker who has been active in both documentary and fiction filmmaking for more than 50 years, having contributed to over 200 films, and four of the 10 all-time best Canadian films as either director or cinematographer.

*We regret to announce that Michel Brault passed away while en route to accept this award at Film North this Saturday, September 21st, 2013. We send our kindest regards to his family and honour him for his life's work in our industry.

Best Animated Film Award Winner:

Directed by Lorena Salas Reyes.
Best Documentary Film Award Winner:
The Captain's Log
Written & Directed by B. Pfister & J. Haehnel.
Best Emerging Canadian Filmmaker Award Winner:
E. Mirabelli & M. DeFilippis, directors of Pretty Thing.

Congratulations to all the filmmakers, who out of over 200 submissions, were juried into our exceptional program this year consisting of 35 films. We ex tend a special thanks to all of our volunteers, partners, industry affiliates, and audience members for being a part of the tremendous growing success of Film North.
